I’m gonna have a nightmare, tortured sleep will come tonight,
I’m gonna have a nightmare; I’ve surrendered to my plight.

Visions dark and frightening will thunder through my dreams,
I’ll see ghosts and demons and skeletons that scream.

I stayed up late and watched the awesome creature double feature,
The one about the kids who were all eaten by their teacher.

And since I couldn’t sleep I grabbed an ancient book of verse,
And read of Elf-Kings, Ravens, Goblins, Trolls and much, much worse.

I’m gonna have a nightmare that chills me to my bones,
Of a tempest-torn sea-crossing and a date with Davey Jones.

I’ll dream of some dumb brute that looms behind me with an axe,
And a madman who entombs his prey in a shell of molten wax.

I’ll conjure up much darker things than you have ever known,
Like bugs that burrow under flesh and feast on living bone.

I’m gonna have a nightmare, and it’s gonna be a doozy,
A fantasy of all things creepy, crawly, pussy, oozy.

Monsters of all kinds chase me up stairways made of mud,
While vampires do backstrokes in swimming pools of blood.

And madness, oh sweet madness is the only happy ending,
As the fire licks my body whilst all my flesh is rending.

I’m gonna have a nightmare, this I know is true,
I’m gonna have a nightmare…
At least, I hope I do.
