Bill Whately had an apple orchard way out in the sticks
He never hired pickers, never had a wife or kids
Some say he brought harvest in each year all on his own
But others say that hoodoo is what kept that cider flowin’
‘Cause nailed up to the trunk of every single apple tree
Was a nightmare-looking scarecrow made of rags & bags & weeds
And when that harvest moon rose and shone upon his land
They say the Scarecrows worked the orchard at Bill Whately’s dark command

There were screams of bloody murder and madness all around
Those patchwork demons rose to life the night the scarecrows came to town

Townsfolk are born suspicious, and dangerous when scared
And fired into fury when a Preacher’s teeth are bared
So no matter how Bill Whately said he harvested his trees
The Devil was upon him and in all his effigies
So they nailed him to a tree just like one of his scarecrows
Then burned the orchard to the ground and pissed between the rows
Dying, Bill let out a laugh “you people really blew it
I kept all them away from you, now there’s no one left to do it”

There were screams of bloody murder and madness all around
Those patchwork demons rose to life the night the scarecrows came to town

Just hours after Whately had coughed his bloody final breath
His minions marched into the town spreading fear and death
They tore the sheriff open and danced in his entrails
Set fire to the churchyard, the schoolhouse, and the jail
When the sun rose again and shown across the town
Blood & gore was everywhere, but no bodies could be found
Then at the charred orchard they were horrified to see
The victims nailed to every one of Whately’s apple trees
